About Tides of Change
Our name speaks for itself. While change can be a little uncomfortable at first, embracing it often leads to personal growth, new opportunities and the ability to learn and adapt to life’s challenges.
Change leads to improvement and forces us to step outside our comfort zones, learn new skills and develop resilience. Change helps us to adopt better habits, build confidence and break free from routines and patterns that hold us back.
Tides of Change is a agency created to provide services to adults with varying levels of physical and intellectual capabilities. Serving the metropolitan area of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tides of Change supports those with differing abilities through Supported Living, Shared Living, Service Navigation and Day-Array Services (small friendship groups held daytime, evening and weekends.)
We initiate services by meeting in person to identify specific support needs and personal interests. We will explore funding options including DODD (Dept of Developmental Disabilities) waivers, local levy and private pay.
About Dona Jean Gatwood
In 2020, while our world was experiencing change with the COVID 19 pandemic, I was in a personal time of change and growth. After 35 years of working in larger human service agencies supporting people with differing abilities, I had a reoccurring dream to create a smaller, more intimate, human-focused entity that prioritized relationships and connects people to what they love.
Tides of Change (TOC) is the culmination of my experiences and life’s work to help create change for the better in other people’s lives.
What Tides of Change does…
Supported Living
TOC staff helps people live their best lives in communities where they choose to live by providing assistance in their homes shared with their families or friends.
Shared Living
A TOC provider and/or a family member shares their home and offers support with daily routines as needed. Through this typical home environment, people are able to reach their goals with a shared sense of belonging while developing lasting relationships.
Friendship Groups
TOC provides opportunities to connect people through small group experiences in our communities and develop friendships through daily adventures. Built on interests and direction of our TOC participants, activities can include local farmers market, festivals, cultural events, parks, concerts, sporting events, volunteering and expanded adventures such as camping, mountain and beach trips.
To ensure maximum participation for our friends we have a 501c3 non-profit charitable arm Tides Trips: Funwith Friends-Adventures for adults with differing abilities These community experiences are approved for Day-Array funding for those utilizing waivers through DODD (Department of Developmental Disabilities) or the private pay option.
Service Navigation
TOC will assist families to navigate the everchanging service field as they transition from the educational systems to the adult world, from family home to more independent living or simply exploring available resources in housing, recreational options and waivers for funding support.

Tides trips Fun with Friends, the official non-profit that provides scholarships for journeys of fun., friendship adventure and lasting memories for adults with differing abilities, served by Tides of Change.
We believe traveling with our friends enhances our lives by increases skills, makes making our relationships stronger, our hearts bigger and our world smaller.

Founded in 2020 Tides of Change meet all requirements from DODD to maintain certification including
Annual Compliance Training which addresses changes to laws, rules and regulations. All support staff hold CPR/First Aide certification, background checks and all required training by DODD.
